The Colossal Cholesterol Hoax

Several years ago I obtained a tape of a lecture delivered by a renowned full professor of cell biology at UC-Berkeley. In it he mentioned that cholesterol was getting a bum rap and that cholesterol readings had little meanings regarding health, and none at all if one is
over 60.
85% of blood serum cholesterol is manufactured by the liver and only 15% relates to what one eats. But the medical Brahmins, dismayed over the increasing rate of heart attacks, have recently changed the recommended safe levels of cholesterol so as to put 20% of all Americans in their so-called "danger zone."
This will cause doctors to greatly increase their prescribing of statin chemical drugs, vastly increasing the profits of "ethical" drug companies, who are no doubt behind this change of the rules.
This is a hoax of colossal proportions, as every medical doctor in America knows that cholesterol does not cause heart attacks. what causes heart attacks is arterial blockages by plaque buildup.
Who gets heart attacks? Many studies have shown that the majority of them occur without warning to people with normal cholesterol levels.
In fact the rate of such attacks in people with very high cholesterol levels is much lower than for the "normals."
And how does cholesterol figure into that equation? The average American daily consumes lots of bad fats, principally the hydrogenated vegetable oils, which do two things: (1)destroy Vitamin E, and (2)cause fissures to appear in arterial walls.
Oxygen then turns rancid the bad fats which one consumes daily. To get an idea of how pervasive this poisoning is going on, just read the ingredients (always fine print and often of a color which makes them hard to read)of all the baked goods, packaged cookies, oleos, smooth peanut butter, soups, yogurts, etc., in your favorite supermarket.
Those rancid oxidated fats cause your blood cholesterol to sludge and catch in the induced fissures, and those clumps then become coated with calcium and grow. Eventually they block blood flow sufficiently to cause heart attacks and/or strokes from lack of oxygen normally borne by the red blood cells to the heart, brain, etc. That's a simplified discription, but sufficient to make the point.
The answer lies in both prevention and cure. Prevention is avoiding the bad fats and making sure you get plenty of antioxidants, primarly Vitamin A,C, and E. Also Co-Enzyme Q10.
There are at least two efficient remedies which clean out plaque even already formed, and prevent the buildup of new plaque. The first, of which I have first-hand knowledge is Q10. It cleard up 75% blockage of carotid arteries in four months for a friend last year. She is a retired school teacher, about 68 years old and now in excellent health.
The other remedy is citrus pectin, of which I have no first-hand knowledge, only its reputation to act like Drano in your arteries. It is sold as a supplement, as is Co-Enzyme Q10, and the FDA does not permit the vendors to mention the arterial cleansing action of either. The chances are probably well over 90% that you won't get that info from your cardiologist, either.
Both pectin and Q10 are available in health food stores without prescription, which is probably why the cardiologist will not tell you about them. If you cure yourself inexpensively, how does that buy them that new Mercedes or millin-dollar mansion?
The so-called remedies which they are induced to push by the drug companies are the statins. The worst of them was Baycol, recently removed from the market after being involved in 113 known deaths from liver failure and no one knows how many others. There are a half dozen or so other drugs whose names end in "statin." How many of Baycol's sister statins do you want to take?
But be aware that if you are already taking one of those statin poisons you should not come to an immediate halt. You had better consult the physician who prescribed it about a program of weaning away from it.
If you have followed this column, this isn't the first time that you have heard me rail against hydrogenated foods. I've done it many times, simply because they destroy Vitamin E, a proven savior of hearts.
Now you and I have a better understanding of the mechanisms involved.
